Do you aspire to have a board that embraces fundraising? Many CEOs and development professionals do that sort of daydreaming…if only our board stepped up and loved fundraising!!! What if you introduced the concept of a Culture of Philanthropy Committee? And I don’t mean just rename your Fundraising Committee and do the ‘same ole, same ole’.
When you start a Culture of Philanthropy Committee you are taking a stand for something better, something more powerful. You are essentially throwing your hat over the fence* and you are committing to reinvent what may have been a lackluster and antiquated structure.
What is a Culture of Philanthropy Committee?
Creating a Culture of Philanthropy Committee is about intentionally building a team comprised of board members and others in your community who will nurture a Culture of Philanthropy. The role of the committee is to maintain a true vision for the philanthropic dreams of your agency. This includes considering new ways to do things, looking at your blind spots, and educating the board about how impactful a Culture of Philanthropy can be. Members of the committee see the whole process through, from dream to reality, and get to share in the joys of success.
I wish I could convey the increased enthusiasm, connection with your mission, and strong partnerships that are possible with your board members through establishing a strong Culture of Philanthropy Committee. It is truly one of the most powerful and impactful things you can do. Enjoy this video as my Rainmaker partner David Sharken and I share more details….
